Projected, not official yet. On August 26, 2026 the President set the 2027 raise at 7% for E-1 to E-5, 6% for E-6 to O-3 and 5% for O-4 and above. It takes effect January 1 unless Congress passes a different number first.
DFAS publishes the official tables in December, and this page switches to them as soon as they're out. Where Congress stands is in what the 2027 raise does to your retirement pay.
This is the 2027 military pay chart for every grade, E-1 through O-10, including warrant officers and prior enlisted officers, at every year of service from 2 or less to over 40. Find your grade on the left and read across to your years of service.
These figures are basic pay only. Your paycheck also includes tax-free allowances like BAH and BAS, plus any special pays. Thinking past the uniform? See what these numbers become as a pension with the free retirement calculator, or check this year's rates on the 2026 military pay chart.

Notes. Federal law caps officer basic pay at two Executive Schedule rates. O-7 to O-10 can't go above Level II, $18,999.90 a month in 2026, and O-6 and below can't go above Level V, $15,408.30. The President's plan freezes 2026 civilian executive pay, so both caps are expected to hold for 2027. That's why O-9 and O-10 show one flat rate and O-6 stops rising at over 26. Academy cadets, midshipmen and ROTC members got $1,452.90 a month in 2026, and DFAS sets the 2027 rate with the official tables.
2027 Prior Enlisted Officer Pay (O-1E to O-3E)
Officers with more than 4 years of creditable enlisted or warrant service are paid on the E scale below, which runs higher than the standard O-1 to O-3 rates at the same years of service.

How These 2027 Figures Are Worked Out
Each official 2026 rate is multiplied by 1.07, 1.06 or 1.05 for its grade and rounded to the nearest 10 cents, which is how DFAS prints the tables. Warrant officers and prior enlisted officers are at 6%, since they sit inside the E-6 to O-3 band in DoD's grade order.
I checked the method on last year's raise. Applying the 3.8% raise to the 2025 tables the same way lands within 10 cents of 500 of the 503 published 2026 rates, and within 20 cents of every one. So read any single figure here as good to about a dime.
If Congress sets 3.6% for everyone instead, every figure comes down, by about 3.2% for E-1 to E-5, 2.3% for E-6 to O-3 and 1.3% for O-4 and above.
What Base Pay Does Not Include
Base pay is usually 60 to 70 percent of total military compensation. On top of the chart figures, most members also get these.
- BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing), tax-free, set by ZIP code, rank and dependency status
- BAS (Basic Allowance for Subsistence), a tax-free food allowance with one flat rate for enlisted and one for officers
- Special and incentive pays, such as flight pay, sea pay, hazardous duty pay and reenlistment bonuses
Allowance rates are published on the DFAS pay tables page.
National Guard and Reserve Drill Pay
Drill pay uses the same table. One drill period pays 1/30th of the monthly rate, and a standard drill weekend has four periods. An E-5 with over 6 years of service earns $4,397.70 a month on this chart, so one drill period pays $146.59 and a full drill weekend pays about $586.36 before taxes.
What does this paycheck become when you take off the uniform?
Serve 20 years and half of your High-3 average follows you for life (40% under BRS), plus a COLA raise every year. For most people leaving the service, that pension is the anchor the whole plan hangs on. See your number, after taxes and with your VA rating, in about 30 seconds.
This chart is your paycheck. The worksheet prices the pension it builds, with the 30-year value after COLA, federal tax through the real brackets, and your number ranked across all 50 states. One-time $9, or see a sample first.
2027 Military Pay FAQ
How much will military pay go up in 2027?
The President set the 2027 raise at 7% for E-1 to E-5, 6% for E-6 to O-3 and 5% for O-4 and above, effective January 1, 2027. Congress can still pass a different number before then, and the Senate Armed Services Committee's bill would set 3.6% for every grade. DFAS publishes the official tables in December.
How much will an E-5 make in 2027?
An E-5 earns between $3,576.90 and $4,731.20 a month in basic pay (projected), depending on years of service, plus tax-free BAH and BAS on top.
When does the 2027 raise show up in my paycheck?
